Purify Pakistan

Scarcity of clean water has become one of the most important social issues in Pakistan. We are sure you have already heard about this before. Many people don’t have access to clean water and are forced to drink contaminated water and use it in household chores. This makes it hard for children and other humans to survive. Knowing the importance of water, one would understand how difficult and hard it is for them to go by their daily routine. It is suggested that a person drinks at least 1.5 litres of water everyday but this shortage of clean water has made it impossible for many people.

Purify Pakistan is an awareness campaign led by university students with the main motive of putting forward this issue as its severity is barely acknowledged. This campaign will educate people about how important and valuable clean water is. This will be done to the extent that people understand the toughness poor people are facing in Pakistan and the seriousness of it. It would encourage them to save water the next time it rains, or when they’re throwing away bottled water.

Clean water is linked with the production of food, irrigation of crops and most importantly life. Pakistan is a third world country and the ratio of rich to poor has started increasing day by day. Not every citizen can afford clean water due to low per capita income. These people have to go out of their way to water filtration plants once or twice a day just to get water that is not polluted. Now imagine yourself having to leave the comfort of your home every time you have to quench your thirst. When these people were asked whether or not they get clean water in their homes, some said the pipes in their house were rusted and others said the water is contaminated. Isn’t that heart wrenching?

Think about going without clean water a whole day and tell us what you feel about this issue in the comments section below!
